Storefront bound

We are embarking on a new, exciting journey of entrepreneurship! We have found a storefront for our bookbar! We were not aggressively searching for a physical space. Our plans were to do more online and popup. But we found “the building” perfect for us and our store. Right off of College Avenue in Appleton, WI, this space will not just be a bookstore or a bar but a haven for literary enthusiasts and science nerds alike.

We always had in mind a cool old buildings with nooks and crannies; cozy yet vibrant. A space where bookshelves line the walls, inviting people to lose themselves in the pages of a good book while savoring a locally sourced brew or a cup of coffee.

Then, the old VFW building popped up for sale- the storefront that seemed to whisper promises of warmth, history, and community from its very windows. It already had these old awnings and brick exterior that screamed ‘bookstore’. And oh by the way, it’s the VFW, and our whole family is vets, how perfect?!?!

The building is old as fuck and will need some work. But we plan on spending our summer transforming the front bar into the coolest (and only) bookbar in the Fox Cities.

With the close date penciled into the calendar and the feeling like we might vomit, we can't wait to unlock the doors of Tardigrade’s Bookshelf and invite in our friends and the community for the first time! Here's to new beginnings for our little store we’ve been envisioning. We’ll keep you posted on our renovation projects here as we sweat and bleed to create a shop that you want to spend all day in.
